One ranking policeman that leaped to the assistance of a colleague that got attacked by a blade-wielder was granted the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a knife to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a traffic accident in the area in summer 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.

"Officer attacked," the officer stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera footage made public by the force showed Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood up, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a weapon outstretched.

He collided with the policeman who lost balance and went down to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being repeatedly struck with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a open target, ending the confrontation to an conclusion.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get help on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his throat and further wounds to his limbs and torso, while Sgt Foster received cut injuries.

Authorities reported Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stop his partner's blood loss before emergency responders reached the scene.

The new recognition comes subsequent to the three officers were granted organizational Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the area union branch in April 2024.

They further earned a Area Courage Honor in summer 2024.

"The efforts of all three officers ultimately protected each other and meant no members of the public endured any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, as stated by officials.
